Donna Furmanek discovered the art of movement in 1976, which led her to yoga and a new direction in life. As an Early Childhood Educator, Certified Montessori Teacher, and Movement Specialist, Donna has seen the importance of movement, nurturing learning environments, and opportunities for creative expression that encourage learning and wellness.
Donna continues to study Yoga in the Iyengar Tradition and Creative Arts Therapies as a Graduate of Laban Movement Analysis with Columbia College, Chicago. Donna currently serves as a member of IYAMW (Iyengar Yoga Association of the Midwest). Donna teaches and provides consultations as an Ayurvedic Practitioner (National Ayurveda Medical Association (NAMA), and is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT and Member- International Association of Yoga Therapists).
Donna teaches movement and yoga to all ages in general and therapeutic capacities. She creatively blends her knowledge of movement, education, Ayurveda and Yoga in her classes.
The Academy of Creative Movement was founded by Donna Furmanek, who began teaching yoga and movement in her home 20 years ago. Together, Donna and her late husband, Michael, envisioned Academy of Creative Movement Yoga as movement toward not only physical development, but also mental and spiritual development. ACMY is a friendly, and welcoming yoga center that helps to creatively move and guide students of all ages toward a lifestyle of health of health and wellness.
Our beautiful and fully equipped new studio is located at 15930 S. 75th Court, Suite 100, Tinley Park. It is easily accessible from 159th street, with ample parking. Only minutes from the Metra train station.
